That first buck is a special one. There is that simultaneous elation and sadness that you can&#39;t explain to those who don&#39;t hunt. The connection to the earth and life is never more apparent than when you put your hands on a critter harvested for the table. Each time you pull a package from the freezer a recollection of the hunt, the landscape, the beautiful animal and even the scents and cold will play back and put a smile on your heart. The flavor of the meal is seasoned by the memories and feel more right than others.
